Last Sunday, Placer County held its annual Farm and Barn Tour, which I ended up on accidentally when my friends and I took a drive to unwind from a busy weekend.
As it happened, we had the good fortune of meeting Susan Petersen at Alpaca All Around in Loomis, CA. We hand fed a number of the alpaca, and were pleased to discover how calm and soft the animals are. In the petting pen, small children well outnumber the 3 alpaca enclosed, yet the small animals were notably gentle, as were the alpaca.
We also enjoyed visiting their unique Farm Store that included beautiful hand made products, many of which constructed from the farm’s own fleece. Items included raw fleece, scarves, fleece covered soaps, rugs and jewelry. I recommend a visit for upcoming holiday shopping, but do call or email first for hours.
